College Credit Plus

Sylvania students in grades 7-12 have an opportunity to participate in the College Credit Plus program. The purpose of the program is to promote rigorous academic and technical pursuits and to provide a wider variety of options to “college ready” school students. Eligible students can take a course and earn high school and college credit that appears on both the high school and college transcripts. There is no cost for the student to participate in College Credit Plus when the student is enrolled in a public college or university. Students choosing to enroll in a participating private college or university might incur costs. However, nonpublic institutions of higher education may not charge students who are economically disadvantaged. There are various delivery methods available for participating in this program including, but not limited to, attending a university or community college, participating in online coursework, or attending one of our high schools and enrolling in a course that is credentialed for college credit. Students must be accepted by the institution to which they apply as being “college ready”. Students also are required to participate in a counseling session prior to participation pursuant to division B of section 3365.04 of the Revised Code. Sylvania Students enrolling in grades 7-12 next year who are interested in participating in College Credit Plus must see their school counselor for full details. April 1 is the deadline for applying for the College Credit Plus program. A required informational meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Northview Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. and on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Southview Theatre. Parents and students may attend the meeting that is most convenient regardless of home school.  All interested students and parents must attend. The intent of the College Credit Plus program is not to replace already existing courses at Sylvania High Schools, rather to enhance the curriculum. College Credit Plus Partners include: Bowling Green State University, Lourdes University, Northwest State College, Owens Community College, The University of Findlay, and The University of Toledo.
