SALA Program Description
Elementary School (K-5)
The SALA program is a 100% remote learning option instructed by Sylvania teachers. Teachers engage, instruct, and support students remotely through the district-wide technology platform, Schoology. Similar to the district’s remote learning (red) plan, the SALA teacher teaches and supports students through rigorous grade-level curriculum. Sylvania teachers are assigned to regular class-sized groups of students. Lessons may be live or recorded. All live sessions will be recorded for students to access at a later time.
Junior and High School (6-12)
The SALA program is a 100% remote learning option supported by Sylvania teachers. The Edgenuity platform is used for course content. Sylvania teachers engage with students through a variety of means, this can include individual and small-group video conferences as well as remediate and supplement content to support learning. SALA teachers handle course management, problem-solving, progress-monitoring, and other administrative issues.
Special Education (K-12)
All students with disabilities documented by an Individualized Education Program (IEP) are provided support and services to meet the goals and objectives of the IEP from a Sylvania intervention specialist. This specialist also collaborates with the students’ SALA teachers for accommodation and modification of learning as required.
