David Spiess joined the Board in January, 2002. He is a benefit consultant with SeaGate Benefits Administrator, Inc. and has over 20 years in health insurance. Mr. Spiess is a former graduate of the Sylvania Schools and a 1978 graduate of the University of Toledo with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting. Dave has served various leadership positions in his field as well as on numerous community and athletic committees. Dave is a lifelong resident of Sylvania and currently resides in Sylvania with his wife, Sue. They raised two children; both of whom are graduates of Southview High School.

Jim began his four-year term as a Sylvania Board member in January 2004. He is an attorney specializing in family law and criminal defense litigation. He is a principal in the law offices of Wittenberg, Phillips, Levy & Nusbaum. Jim is a 1988 graduate of Southview High School, later attending Indiana University for his undergraduate degree and the University of Toledo College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1995. Licensed to practice in Michigan and Ohio, Jim has made Sylvania his home where he resides with his wife, Sherri, and two children Daniel and Carly.

Vicki Donovan Lyle began her first term as a Sylvania Board member in January 2004. Vicki is a broker and benefit consultant for Butler Capital Advisors. She has over eight years of experience in employee benefits and more than a dozen years experience as a paralegal in the areas of labor and litigation. Ms. Lyle is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She serves as a board member on S.C.A.T. has served on several district committees, actively volunteers in the schools, and was Sylvania Schools 2003 Educator of the Year for Community Volunteerism. She and her husband, Denny, have lived in Sylvania for fourteen years and have two children, one of whom is a 2005 graduate of Southview High School and one attending Sylvan Elementary.

Gernot became a board member following his appointment in January,
2000 to fufill the remaining two-year term vacated by Dr. Cizek. A
practicing attorney since his graduation from the university of Toledo
College of Law in 1974, when he was admitted to the Ohio Supreme Court
and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Mr.
Gernot continues to practice law as the Assistant Public Defender
for the Toledo Public Defender's Office and in private practice, where
he specializes in domestic relations and criminal defense. Mr. Gernot,
and his wife Luci, have lived in the Sylvania area for 17 years raising
four children all of whom have graduated from the Sylvania Schools.

Pam Haynam became a board member in January 1998. She is the owner of a small technology consulting firm, and has over twenty-five years experience in Toledo's Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Haynam is a Miami University graduate with a B.S. in Applied Science. Ms. Haynam also holds an MBA in Finance from The University of Toledo. She actively volunteers in the school district and was Sylvania Schools 1997 Educator of the Year for Community Volunteerism. She and her husband, Doug, have three children; one attending Southview High School; and two graduates of Southview
High School.
