STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

Strategic Initiative #1:  High-quality instruction and student achievement

1.1         Implement instructional strategies and alternative educational options that meet

              the wide-range of student needs, interests, and ability levels.

1.2         Implement full-day kindergarten by August 2010.

1.3         Integrate technology into the curriculum to expand learning activities/experiences.

1.4         Increase K-12 math, science, and technology learning opportunities for students.

1.5         Evaluate the elementary literacy program.

1.6         Expand students’ understanding of international issues, the global economy, and

              different cultures.

                     

         Performance indicators: Excellent with Distinction rating; Performance Index – 105,

               AYP/Value Added criteria met; All schools rated excellent

 

Strategic Initiative #2:  Effective district operations/services

2.1        Meet the quality standards, budget parameters, and timelines for the construction

              and renovation projects from the 2008 bond issue.

2.2         Restructure the Human Resource/Payroll functions.

2.3         Utilize technology-based tools to streamline work flow.

2.4         Complete the Southview and Northview stadium projects included in the

              Athletic Facilities Master Plan.

2.5         Incorporate green principles into daily operations when feasible.

2.6         Continue cost saving measures to ensure the district’s financial stability.

2.7         Continue to seek alternative revenue sources to enhance academic/

              extracurricular programs.

 

     Performance indicators:  Bond issue projects completed; Southview and Northview

             stadiums upgraded;Human Resource/Payroll restructuring completed

 

Strategic Initiative #3:  Vibrant school-community relationships

3.1         Promote and support the goals/efforts of the Academic Excellence Foundation,

              Sylvania Schools Athletic Foundation and alumni groups.

3.2         Increase the content and user-friendliness of the district electronic gateway.

3.3         Utilize social networking to enhance communication with stakeholders.

3.4         Utilize Parent Access Module (PAM) from eSIS system.

3.5         Increase marketing strategies to retain current students and recruit future students.

3.6         Continue collaborative ventures with local governmental entities and community

              organizations that benefit the school district and enhance the quality of life of the

              Sylvania community.

 

       Performance indicators: Stakeholder focus groups and surveys; Number of

              collaborative projects/events
