Student Information System

eSIS
eSIS is a comprehensive, student information system that is being implemented by Sylvania Schools K-12. Sylvania is part of a 40+ district consortium in Northwest Ohio that is phasing in eSIS over a three year period. Throughout the U.S. and Canada over 6 million students are served by the eSIS software that has been implemented over the last twenty years.

Why eSIS?
The new student information system increases parent involvement in student progress through a secure, web-based system. When fully implemented, parents will be able to access their student’s information such as:  grades, test scores, homework, attendance, and more at any time through the Parent Assistant Module (PAM).

The system is capable of storing all of a student’s educational information in one database so that it can be easily accessed by the people who need it most. The student information system is maintained on a secure web-based site that is backed-up each day to ensure reliability and continuity.

What changes will parents notice with the new system?
Reports coming from the schools will contain the same information, but in a different format. In 2009-10, parents will gain an exciting new tool through the Parent Assistant Module (PAM.)   PAM will allow parents to access their student’s information such as:  grades, test scores, homework, attendance, and more at any time.  At the high school level there will be slight modifications to the GPA calculation formula and the grading scale.  Click here for more information.

How does eSIS differ from our old system?
Our new system takes all of the Sylvania student information and makes it easily accessed by staff. Teachers are now able to access student attendance, parent contact information and much more for the students in their classes. Through the Parent Assistant Module (PAM), each parent will be given a user name and password to access his student’s information from any internet capable computer.

How secure is my child’s information?
The system is set-up with multiple levels of security. Parents will have access to view their student’s information which is separate from the student information system itself. The screen is password protected and only the parent will have access to their child’s screen.

What if I lose my password?
There will be a designated staff member in each building to assist parents when passwords need to be changed.

Will I continue to get electronic grade reports from the teachers?
In 2009-10, the Parent Assistant Module (PAM) will allow parents to access the grade information at any time from any Internet-capable computer.

If my student moves out of district, what can I access and for how long?
Once a student is withdrawn from Sylvania Schools, the student information access will terminate.

Once my student graduates, how do I access the student transcript?
Contact your building records secretary in writing to request a transcript.
