Programs Based At Northview High School

Business TechnologyBusiness Technology
This Tech Prep course is for the career– or college-bound student who is interested in pursuing a career in business. Students will develop an understanding of business practices that are needed by everyone to excel in a business field. Areas of student include: accounting, finance, management and advanced software applications. Students acquire critical-thinking, decision-making and business ethics skills. Student have the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiencies in Microsoft Office application by taking the core-level Microsoft Office Specialist exam (MOS). Students participate in a job shadowing experience that allows the student to apply what they learned in the classroom.

Engineering TechnologyEngineering Technology
This course is for students interested in a career in engineering. Students will gain in-depth study in the areas of design, electrical systems, fluid power, manufacturing processed, robotics and quality assurance. Students will build pneumatic catapults and can crushers as engineering projects. Student will tour local college of engineering and local manufacturing companies.

Interactive MediaInteractive Media
Students in Interactive Media Technology will create, design and produce interactive multimedia products and services. This program emphasizes the development of digitally-generated or computer-enhanced media. Students will use multi-media technology to develop products/programs for business, training, entertainment, communications and marketing. Students will be introduced to animation digital imaging, Web page development, interactive digital media, GUI Video Technology, graphic design an combing all areas into an interactive media project.

Medical TechnologyMedical Technology
This course combines two periods of the lab portion of the class with on period of Anatomy and Physiology to give student interested in medical fields an advantage as they pursue their career goals. This class emphasize a firm foundation in Medical Terminology, Diseased, Ethics and Emergency First Aid. A hands-on applications will be acquired through professional guest speaker, health care field trips and victim/patient care skills. This course covers the following: Introduction to Health Care and First Responder training. Student will be trained as First Responders and instructed in basic management of emergency medical/pre-hospital care of the sick and injured. First Responders are trained to reach patients, find out what is wrong and provide emergency cares.

ProgrammingProgramming
Visual Basic is the preeminent programming language for Windows based applications. You will learn the visual component (command buttons, text boxes, picture boxes, and more) to design screen layouts. Then you will learn the BASIC language (branching, loops, arrays, files, and more) to manipulate these screen objects to create useful applications. You will also learn advanced skills such as acces sing infor mat ion in a database and creating reports.

C++ focuses on the design stage of computer program development and the coding of programs. Topics covered include structure techniques, data types, input/output, assignment statements, selection structure, repetition structure, functions, hierarchy charts, arrays, pointers, and data structures. Java programming focuses on the AP curriculum through the use of data structures. Topics include input/output, selection, repetition, methods, vectors, and linked lists. Applets and graphics will also be introduced.
