August, 2007 Dear Colleagues, Welcome to your Local Professional Development Committee. Since all certified staff employed in Sylvania Schools must hold a current certificate/license, your Sylvania LPDC serves as the conduit to help you maintain current certification/licensure. The committee reviews professional development activities for your license renewal. It is your responsibility to know your license expiration date and renewal requirements, the timelines set in the LPDC procedures, pursue quality learning experiences and maintain your records. The implementation of the on-line IPDP Manager has been a major step forward in streamlining the licensure process by allowing you access to your plan and activity vouchers via computer in your classroom. If you are working under a two year provisional license, you do not need to file a plan until you are issued your first license after passing Praxis III. Your profile will not be available on-line until that time. New hires to Sylvania who have a current license will find their profile on the on-line IPDP Manager by the end of September. To file an Individual Professional Development Plan on-line or view your current plan, open Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator and type in http://10.217.4.222. Your user name is your last name and first initial with no space. Your password is the last four digits of your social security number. Click on ‘Create a New Plan’ and you are on your way. For further assistant, click here for a step by step on how to file an IPDP. Points to remember: 1. Everyone must have a current IPDP on file BEFORE any coursework, workshops or activities can be approved. (Permanent certificates excluded) 2. All paperwork must be submitted within one year of completion date or it will not be approved. 3. You must create a new IPDP each time your license is renewed. The old IPDP will be automatically purged from the system. 4. If your new license has multiple areas of specialization you only need to file one (1) IPDP. Minimum one (1) goal for each area. Consult the Guide for Writing IPDP Learning Goals to help you create your goals. The committee continues to make every effort to assist you in keeping your certificate/license current. Please send all paperwork to Burnham attention LPDC. Should you need assistance, you may meet with the committee during our scheduled meetings. If you have any questions, you may contact me or any committee member via e-mail or voice mail. My voice mail extension is 6149 at Southview. Sincerely, Mary Goodwin, Acting Chairperson
