January 31, 2024
On January 22, 2024, the Sylvania Schools Board of Education approved the retirement of Superintendent Dr. Motley. Dr. Motley has 34 years of service in the field of education.
Dr. Motley retires today, Thursday, January 31, 2024. By statue, it is required that a retired public employee take a break in service between the retirement date and rehire date. As a result, Assistant Superintendent Tim Zieroff has been appointed as our Interim Superintendent, effective February 1, 2024. However, on February 2, 2024, following a mandated break in service, Dr. Motley will resume her position as Superintendent of Sylvania Schools.
Rehiring a retired employee can save districts money. In Dr. Motley’s case, the savings to the District is $90,369 through July 2025.
